GetToTheFront: I’m sure we are not the only one who have struggled with pronouncing your name. Did your label or the people behind you ever ask you to take on a stage name? And, if you had to pick a stage name, what name would you pick?
OhFerras: Is this a not- so- roundabout way of suggesting i take on a stage name?

GetToTheFront: You have recently released an acoustic EP, ‘Interim’. It has to be said that the 5 songs on the EP really show off your talent as an all round artist, would you agree?

OhFerras: It’s just piano and voice so yeah- its a raw display of my work. No gadgets, studio trickery or lush production to hide behind. Although, i do love all of those things as well- my new full length album is more r&b dance influenced….. I have two sides of me i think- one that really gets off on all the production-and the other that prefers to not hide behind it…. So in a sense, I’m two people. Come to think of it, my diagnosis of multiple-personality disorder is starting to make sense.

GetToTheFront: It has to be said that a couple of the songs from, ‘Interim’ have pretty out of the ordinary song titles, where did you come up with these titles?

OhOhFerras: I think I’ve always had out of the ordinary song titles. I’m really inspired by the supernatural. Ghosts, phantoms, fortune tellers, witches … I think “INTERIM” has a sort of heartfelt mystical quality about it ….. these themes or characters play an impt. role in the overall experience of this record.

GetToTheFront: You are often tweeting that you are in the studio, are you working on an album or working with other artists?

OhFerras: I’m presently recording a new album that i’m in the process of shopping to a new record label- After Capitol unceremoniously dismissed me when the person who signed me left for another job (label politics), I began writing for other artists to chill out for a moment and get some perspective …. After doing that for the last two years, I’m ready to be the artist again….. creativity and inspiration is a curious thing… sometimes, you are FULL on when writing for other people, and sometimes you can only write for yourself.

GetToTheFront: I have been watching Youtube clips of your live performances and you are amazing live, and look so comfortable on stage – But, If we stripped you away from your piano, do you think you would feel so comfortable on stage?

OhFerras: Guess we’ll have to see……The new record uses a lot less of it- i’ll prob step away from the piano and go back and forth. And ps. I’m sort of never comfortable on stage. I’m always a wreck until i see people’s reactions. Then it gets easier.

GetToTheFront: You often perform covers during your live performances, have you ever wanted to cover a song but feel it’s one of those song’s that just can’t be covered?

OhFerras: Always. There’s a danger in doing covers. People love to hear them.. but then you open yourself up to being massacred by the artist’s psycho fans; i think there is an art to doing to a cover song. I don’t feel like i particularly am good at it. I prefer to sing my own songs.

GetToTheFront: Many people have that one song that they feel was written about them or their life, which song by another artist would you say depicts you or your life?

OhFerras: The closest to that would be my own song, “Aliens & Rainows”

GetToTheFront: Can you give us three artists that inspire you and three that don’t inspire you?

OhFerras: Madonna, Lady Gaga, Prince. I can think of more than three uninspirational artists however….. A. I don’t have all day. B. I’m not wearing a bullet-proof vest. So for politics and safety concerns, I’ll gracefully keep my trap shut.
GetToTheFront: Are you a fan of any UK artists?

OhFerras: Yes~!!!! Chase and Status, Imogen Heap, Ellie Goulding, Adele, Mark Ronson, Cheryl Cole (mainly because she’s insanely gorgeous)

GetToTheFront: Finally, what’s next for Ferras?

OhFerras: What’s next? Oh the usual shit. I want a clothing line, a perfume bottle with my name on it, a guest spot on Glee and to holiday with Elton John in Mykonos. You know, nothing major.
